No. Broilers are kept on a litter of soft wood shavings that absorbs their droppings. At each cycle, the litter is completely replaced and the environment where the new chicks will be housed is completely disinfected. Laying hens, on the other hand, which have a longer life cycle, live in more complex structures: enriched cages or aviaries or on the ground with the addition of perches. All these structures allow the animals not to be in contact with their droppings.
